Kenny Green Program Descriptions Pre-School programs: For over 20 years Kenny Green has been one of Westchester County's most sought-after presenters of participation-based music programs for pre-schools and daycare centers. As a song leader Kenny's main goal is to get kids singing and to involve them intimately in the creation of music. Using largely calendar-based material (songs that relate to current holidays, seasons and events in children's lives), Kenny creates a musical experience that focuses on celebration and exploration. His approach brings kids an experience they will want to repeat, a learning experience yes, but more importantly a visceral discovery of the joy of music and communication. Kenny takes his infectious pre-school presentations to concert venues as well where the participation element becomes vast and encompassing and the fun goes through the roof! Kenny has performed in situations as prestigious as the Clearwater Festival in Lower New York state. Hebrew School Programs: Kenny Green runs Hebrew school programs that allow his Jewish song leading talents to shine. Students learn in an atmosphere of fun and participation, through an array of musical selections from the traditional to modern. As in Kenny's pre-school programs Kenny's goal is to encourage involvement in a way that inspires in kids a special enthusiasm. A musical experience with Kenny Green makes religious learning feel like something kids can own for themselves. In addition to Hebrew school song leading Kenny is musically involved in the Shabbat, holiday and other religious services of several synagogues on a regular basis as well as teaching at staff enrichment conferences. The charm that Kenny brings to his Hebrew school programs comes especially alive in concert settings. In 1996, after studying Jewish song leading with some of the world's leading experts in the field, Kenny was one of six musicians chosen out of hundreds of applicants from across the nation to represent the Jewish National Fund in their national performance troupe. He has since had the honor of performing on stage with the musical group Kol B'Seder and at New York City's famed "92nd Street Y" with world renown storyteller, Peninnah Schram. Also at the “92nd Street Y," Kenny has led numerous family seders, as well as headlined their annual family Chanukah concert for several years in a row. Klezmer Music Programs: Since 2001 Kenny Green has been the musical director of a unique program of klezmer music for kids. Composed of multiple instrumental bands, the Westchester Klezmer Program is a hands-on experience for budding and/or accomplished performers of various age groups. Kids from pre-teens to teens with the occasional adult get to perform classic and modern klezmer pieces under Kenny's expert and inspiring direction. And you don't have to be just a clarinet or violin player to join - any instrument is OK. What makes this program unique is that Kenny is guiding young musicians in tackling what is generally considered a rather challenging form of music complete with complex ornaments and unusual scales. The results are astounding and prove that with visionary direction rules can be rewritten. Initially supported by the UJA federation, the Westchester Klezmer Program is now self supporting and may very well be the largest program of it's kind in the world. Bands take part in various performance opportunities which include, but are not limited to performances at local synagogues. All who get involved with this program get to have a unique cultural experience that is highly educational and by any analysis utterly special. Birthday Parties: Kenny Green brings his charged participation-based musical performances to birthday parties. When Kenny shows up at a birthday party it is a rare treat for the kids. Much like his pre-school programs, but with the fun and silliness factors cranked way up, Kenny's birthday shows bring the party together. His material has the unique characteristic of making kids feel understood in a safe and fun way, while allowing them to embrace their special day with abandon. The disarming way in which Kenny encourages communication allows even the shyest of participants to let go and have fun. Camp Music Programs: Kenny Green does summer camp presentations like nobody else. His performances are charged, zany and theatrical, combining storytelling with song leading, animated deliveries with infectious sing alongs. Thematic material that is camp-oriented and school-oriented gets combined with explorations of subjects related to music itself and kids-only experience. Even though in the spirit of fun, kids can't help but learn and grow from a Kenny Green camp performance. Bringing close to 30 years of regular camp entertaining experience to his shows, Kenny Green gets the children involved and leaves them inspired.
