REEL QUALITY PRODUCTS, INC. SAFETY AND USER INFOMATION FOR DXC POLE CALIPERS Thank you for choosing Reel Quality Products, Inc. DXC Pole Calipers. Please read the following safety and user information prior to using your new calipers. Important Safety Information Warning: The calipers are electrically conductive. Always wear appropriate PPE (insulated gloves, Etc.) when measuring near a power source. When pivoting the calipers, hold them near the two 3/8 inch holes located on the straight arm section (grip area). Familiarize yourself with potential pinch points at the pivot end and keep your hands, fingers and other objects clear of this area when moving the arms. User Information The DXC Calipers are designed to provide a quick measurement in inches-rounded of the diameter and calculated circumference of poles and other circular objects. Position the Calipers approximately level and at or near center of the pole or tree being measured Drag the calipers back and for to open the calipers to the high point centerline for an accurate measurement. The pole diameter is read through the diamond shape window of the indicating arm. The pole calculated circumference is read on the reverse side by aligning the engraved line of the indicating arm with the engraved lines of the face arm located on the inside of the window (odd inches) and on the outside periphery of the face arm (even inches). If an out-of-round condition exists, it is best to take multiple measurements (two or more) and average them to obtain a better result. Tension Adjustment Locate the two jam nuts on the pivot screw. Using a 9/16 end wrench (bottom nut) and a 9/16 box wrench or socket (top nut), loosen the jam nuts. Tighten or loosen the bottom jam nut until desired tension is reached. Once desired tension is reached, with the open ended wrench, hold the bottom jam nut in place and re-tighten the top jam nut until the jam nuts move in unison with the pivot screw, without any noticeable slippage. Maintenance To keep your calipers functioning optimally, it is recommended to periodically disassemble, clean and apply a small amount of a lightweight grease to the pivot screw. The calipers have a durable sulfuric acid anodized finish which helps protect them from scuffing and the elements, however they should be routinely wiped clean and be kept covered when not in use for smooth operation and good appearance.
