RED CREEK FREE LIBRARY Programming Policy 2020 Red Creek Free Library (RCFL) provides numerous community programs based on interest and need. From Preschool Storytime to adult crafting classes our programs respond to and reflect community interest. Library staff selects and suggests programs like Crafting Saturdays and Lego club. We are flexible and fluid enough to give ideas a try, then expand or delete according to interest. Most are offered free to the public for instance, movie night. Funds are allotted for most of the programs through budgeting, many are no to low cost to the library. Some offerings include a small fee for materials. A few are held as fundraisers and a nominal charge is asked. When possible the RCFL partners with the Red Creek Central School District which provides some funding of programs like the summer reading program through grants. Programs may be canceled for a number of reasons, among them: severe weather, absence of presenter or low registration. If the local school cancels activities or school, the library is closed and programs are rescheduled. RCFL has been host to local artists, both youth and adult for gallery walks and exhibits. Fundraising has been done with book sales, yard sales, and bake sales. Also included in fundraising are Bunco nights, quilting and crafting lessons, and raffles of donated items. RCFL participates in local celebrations like the Treasure Fest, a community-wide yard sale day. RCFL promotes its programs by advertising in the library, articles in the local newspaper, and ads in the local Shopper. Digital media is also used to promote programs. RCFL is handicapped accessible. RCFL Board Approved 10/13/2020
