*** COMPATIBILITY ***

* TV type *

The Gorf Arcade Demo ROM can be played on NTSC or PAL60 systems. Please ensure that the version you are playing matches the TV type of the monitor you are using.

* AtariVox and SaveKey *

The AtariVox and SaveKey are devices that allow high scores and game settings to be saved when playing Gorf Arcade. The demo version of Gorf Arcade will detect a SaveKey
but the save functionality has been disabled and is available in the full version only.

Gorf Arcade also supports the voice feature of the AtariVox device. This allows full speech phrases from the Gorf leader to be played during a game! The demo version
will play the taunts (over 35 unique phrases!) during a game if an AtariVox is detected on startup.

*** DIFFICULTY SWITCHES ***

(full version only) The left difficulty switches the firing mode for Player 1:

- Difficulty A: Quark missile disabled. You can only shoot again once your missile has hit an enemy or reached the top of the screen.
- Difficulty B: Quark missile enabled. Firing a missile will cancel the previous missile, allowing for close range rapid fire.

To start a game from Mission 1, either press RESET or joystick 1 button.

To select the mission to start from, press SELECT from the title screen.

*** PLAYING THE GAME ***

Use the joystick to move your ship left, right, up or down to avoid incoming enemy fire and line up your shot to destroy the enemies. Note that you can only move about a third
of the way up the screen. To fire your missile, press the fire button. Your ship is armed with a 'quark' missile that will disappear if you fire another missile or when it collides
with the enemy.

In the demo version, the game will loop back to Mission 6 once Mission 10 is completed. In the full version, there are 100 missions to complete, including 8 unique ranks to achieve!

* Astro Battles *

In this mission, you are battling the enemies from the planet surface. The protective shield will stop incoming enemy fire but will slowly get destroyed from enemy fire as the level
progresses, and is also deactivated when your missile is in flight. Shoot all the enemies to proceed to the next level and don't let them reach the planet surface!

* Laser Attack *

In Laser Attack, there are two squadrons of enemies that include a laser gunner, bombers and Gorf ships. Avoid the lasers and blast the enemies to complete your mission.

* Galaxians *

In this mission, you must fight the fleet of Galaxian enemies that will divebomb towards your ship while unleashing a barrage of missiles.

* Space Warp *

Speed through the worm hole towards the final confrontation with the Flag Ship and destroy or avoid the enemies and the constant assault of fireballs.

* Flag Ship *

In the Flag Ship mission, blast through the protective shield and chip away at the hull of the massive ship while avoiding the fireballs and falling debris. One perfectly placed
shot in the enemy ship's glowing core will cause a chain reaction explosion! You are then promoted to the next rank and must complete a new set of more difficult missions.
